Chalk River Project Update
Whitby, ON - Global First Power (GFP) has submitted the first part of a License to Prepare Site (LTPS) application to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for its Micro-Modular™ Reactor (MMR®) Project at Chalk River, ON.
Submitting the LTPS application in two parts sustains progress and supports early engagement with CNSC staff on the business operations-related sections. The approach allows for efficient and thorough review of the application.
The Environmental Impact Study (EIS) and remaining documentation supporting the LTPS application are expected to follow in the near future. GFP continues to engage with Indigenous communities and Nations, and other groups in the region as material is developed. The CNSC will then implement a formal public process with full support from GFP after submission, allowing for further consultation and engagement. The CNSC will post details on its website and GFP will share that information as it’s available.
GFP looks forward to meaningful consultation and engagement with Indigenous Nations and communities, the public, and other stakeholders as this content takes shape in the coming months.
